• Use known facts to solve unknown facts
• Build addition and subtraction fact fluency
• Solve equations with an unknown number

Week 4: Three Addends & Properties of Addition

Students develop efficient addition strategies as they:

• Add three numbers
• Combine addends in different ways
• Use known facts to solve three-addend equations
• Explore the commutative and associative properties of addition
• Group addends to make friendly numbers
• Select efficient addition strategies
