Ambitious Girl Interactive Read Aloud (I like to call them IRAs) is a whole-group or small group lesson where the educator reads aloud a selected, intentional text to the whole class and pauses for authentic and meaningful conversation. 

In IRA’s students think, talk and respond to the text in groups of three or four, pairs, or the entire class. IRA’s help to create a deeper meaning of the text. There are also follow-up activities that can go along with the text as well. They are not meant to be completed in one lesson or sitting.

In this resource there are 4 sections:

• Let’s Learn-Learning about female figures in the book
• Let’s Write-Let’s write about our connections to the book
• Let’s Dig into Vocab-Learning about important vocabulary in the book
