Kindergarten Magic of Math Unit 12 Instructional Slides: Sort, Collect Data, and Graph

About this resource

Make sorting, data, and graphing lessons clear, visual, and engaging with these Kindergarten Magic of Math Unit 12 Instructional Slides. These slides are designed to pair directly with the Magic of Math Kindergarten Unit 12 printable curriculum, giving you visual support as you introduce, model, and practice each day's math skill.

Throughout the unit, students sort objects and pictures into categories, collect and count data, compare groups to find more, fewer, or the same, and make and read picture graphs.

What the Instructional Slides Cover

Week 1: Sort and Classify Data into Categories
Students sort objects by one attribute, sort pictures into categories and explain their thinking, collect and count data, and compare categories using more, fewer, and the same.

Week 2: Graphing with Picture Graphs
Students read picture graphs by counting the pictures in each category, make their own picture graphs, answer questions about the data, and compare two categories on a graph.

Each day follows the same simple flow: a mini-lesson to introduce and model the skill, an activity slide with student materials and step-by-step directions, and a practice slide for independent work.

Designed to Pair with the Printable Unit

These instructional slides are a companion to Kindergarten Magic of Math Unit 12. They are designed to support the daily mini-lessons and activities included in the printable curriculum rather than replace the full unit.

Use the slides to introduce skills, model mathematical thinking, guide class discussions, and provide visual support before students move into the hands-on activities and independent practice included in Magic of Math.
