Dive into a week of reading, vocabulary, grammar, and meaningful literacy instruction with The Cool Bean by Jory John! This Kindergarten Rooted in Reading book unit provides 5 days of lesson plans and activities designed to help young readers identify the problem in a story and think about how it gets solved.

Throughout the week, students will follow Chick Pea's story to identify the problem and solution, brainstorm their own solutions to everyday problems, and make text-to-self connections while developing comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and language skills.

Students will also extend their learning through an original nonfiction reader, a take-home version of the reader to share with families, and engaging activities that connect back to the week's reading skills.
